Technical Details

Nova is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BluetoothLE) device.

It has no buttons or switches. It is always on in low power standby mode waiting to be enabled via a nearby BluetoothLE phone. It's internal battery can be recharged using a regular USB Micro cable (included).

The Nova Camera app allows users to change the brightness and color warmth using built-in presets or through manual settings. Nova drives the color warmth by mixing the light from 20 warm LEDs and 20 cool LEDs.

  • App requirements: iPhone (6, 6 Plus, 5s, 5c, 5, or 4s) running iOS 7 or iOS 8
  • Dimensions: 3.4" × 2.1" × 0.25" (86mm × 53mm × 6.3mm)
  • Weight: 1oz (28g)

Additionally, an open source SDK (Software Development Kit) is available to allow third party developers to integrate Nova into other camera apps. The SDK is released under an MIT open source license.
